Maybe it’s less common amongst illustrators, artists, and graphic designers, but in photography there seems to be a heavy trend toward bands (or their management) showing no respect for the people who make them look good. I wrote a little about it before, so instead of writing too much here I thought I’d get my point across a little differently. So, how would your products look if there were no designers, no photographers, no illustrators of any kind? If it really was all about the music?
Lets get the main one out of the way.
Can you imagine CD shopping? Cd collections would look great wouldn’t they?

Perhaps more pertinent to the photographer (lets face it, photos are easy to replace with illustrations on a CD cover), is the magazine. I don’t know about you, but when I read a show review, I love having photos of the show to look at. When an article about a band has a picture of them, I get to put a face to the name. But without the visual people? Here’s your favourite magazine:

So, just think about what your marketing plan looks like without the images, and don’t burn all your bridges with photographers…
